(thanks for the title, bistronaut)

Was babysitting and took the we’un to the Science Museum to give her something to look at before dozing off. The cafe was empty and this impressive line of sauces got me reaching for the camera.

First attempt wasn’t rotated (by 0.19 degree) correctly (forgot to crop). Not sure I like the thin white border…

Plastic glasses of water on the underlight table in the Blue Cafe in the Science Museum. It was a rather strange experience. Like shining a torch under your chin while eating a ciabatta.

Transference – Spoon’s Latest

Wednesday, February 3rd, 2010

Spoon comes back with a follow-up to their break through to main stream record Ga Ga Ga with Transference. This is really what I expected from this band and the more I listen I can see the mindset.

Spoon’s greatness to me has always been there studio song writing. I love all the editing and effects around seemingly simple tunes.  With this one boasting as self produced it takes a step forward in my direction. I love the effects and loops or what seems like they must be looping. There are a couple songs on this one that really take rhythm to different places then you would expect and I’m a sucker for that.

All in all it’s one of those records that caters to It’s fans. I’m sure Spoon won’t reach stadium performances or even main stream radio plays from Transference but their just that much cooler for sticking to what they do best, and that is their own sound. There’s only one Spoon and for that reason alone I recommend this one.
